Life Drawing: Bubbles the Clown

Introducing Bubbles the clown. A special guest model for a Halloween-themed life drawing class. I had spent the last fortnight before the lesson wondering to myself how creepy he'd look considering I have mixed feelings when I see The Joker but Bubbles wasn't too bad. I'm not a fan of the nightmarish and there were a few poses that were more funny than scary. Other than that I did greatly enjoy the class  A shame I left my camera behind as I could have taken pictures of Bubbles himself. I wanted to try moving away from the thick charcoal-line drawings I had been doing and Marion/Chris was happy to lend me a charcoal pencil to branch out and try other media.

  1. I think I was inspired by the artstyle of Sin City if you've ever seen it. Where the whole thing is inked black-and-white except for when blood was shown, which was always a bold red. The film they made of the comics used filters and editing to achieve an identical effect. It really packs a punch when you apply just enough but not too much red amongst black.
